I am Unix and Linux Server Administrator at a large publishing company (I won’t say which one, but I will give a hint… One of our imprints has a penguin on their covers). I don’t work directly in the publishing portion of the company. Instead my position focuses more in the educational field. I’ve been in my current position for a little over a year. Before working for this publishing company I was a Unix and Linux Server Administrator at a large Aeronautics company. I was with that company for about 10 years.
Before that I was a Service Support Representative at a couple of small companies in the south over the span of about 6-7 year period. And, before that, I worked as a programmer for a different company for a while, then switch roles into documentation writing.
In summary: I’ve been engaged, at one level or another, in technical roles at companies for over the past 20 years.
I’ve also maintained my writing all during this period, with varying levels of success. I have published several articles on the web in newsletters and such, however have never managed to break into print. I am a fiction and poetry author as well, none of which has been published.
I’m a male in my mid-40′s. I’m single, never married, no children. I live alone, and am fairly stable. I’ve probably been somewhat myopic in my dedication to Open Source, Open Culture, Creative Commons, Intellectual Property concerns and related issues.
Okay, that’s probably more than you ever wanted to know about me, but there it is.
