mbv_logoSo, I had heard a lot of buzz about Mt. Baker Vapor juices, so I knew I had to try a few of them out.  So I ordered a batch of six juices from them.  All of them were supposed to be the same PG 20% and VG 80%, with 12mg Nic.  And, in fact, all the flavors that I ordered did come in as ordered.

However, they included an extra flavor.  First, it’s a flavor that I would personally have never ordered, and I think it should have been somewhat obvious given that the majority of my order was tobacco flavors, that it wasn’t something that I would like.  However, it was a gift, so I can’t complain too much. (I’ll leave it up you, dear readers to figure out which flavor I wouldn’t have ordered.) However, the funny thing is: the bottle says that it is PG %80, VG %20.  It really isn’t mixed that way – I can tell by the consistency if the fluid, however I noticed online the other day someone else mentioned the same thing – that the bottle’s label was wrong.

Another point: I did not order any extra “flavor shots”.  I think that is kind of a silly practice.  If the standard juice you are selling is not good enough, then I believe the vendor needs to re-think their product.  I understand that some people might want to have extra flavor in their juice, and I’ve seen the flavors sold by some stores / sites apart from their juices.  But the idea that the base product isn’t good enough just kind of rubs me the wrong way.

So, having said that, here’s the reviews of the first four fluids.  I’ll post reviews of the remaining three fluids in another article.

Vanilla Tobacco

Vapor:
Throat Hit:
Flavor:

This was, undoubtedly, the best of the tobacco flavors I got from MBT. It has a nice body, and smooth flavor. The vanilla is strong, but not overpowering. The tobacco component is a medium strength, not too bright or too dark. Possibly a little darker than some medium-strength analogs.

I can vape this pretty easily. I don’t have a problem vaping a couple of tanks in a row. This tastes closer to the other RY4’s I’ve had thank MBV’s RY4.

555

Vapor:
Throat Hit:
Flavor:

This is not the same 555 I expect after trying Alien Visions 555. This is a much darker, nuttier and heavier flavor. The AVE 555 was crisp and cut my palette, this is more murky and complicated.

Do I taste something like Black Licorice?  I think I do.  Yuck.

I do taste the vanilla and caramel in it, which suggests its similarity to an RY4 style tobacco. But it is much heavier. But still a decent vape.

RY4

Vapor:
Throat Hit:
Flavor:

This to me is just a weaker version of the 555. It has a decent flavor, still a nutty or woody flavor. I do get some caramel / vanilla from it. I don’t get the Black Licorice I noted in the 555.

This is an okay vape, but not something I want to have more than a tank of at a time.

Chocolate Mint

Vapor:
Throat Hit:
Flavor:

Not quite what I had hoped for in this flavor. Think more of the chocolate coating of a Girl Scout cookie, and not Andies Thin Mint. I had hoped for there to be more definition and separation between the chocolate and the mint flavors. A layered affect, if you will. Instead you get a shot of mint, with some murky flavor that could be described as chocolate-like.

And yet, I would say this was one of the better flavors I tried from the whole batch. It is something that I could vape for several days and not be disappointed with it until I moved on to something like Halo’s Shamrock.
