This video does a
good exemplary job of explaining the problems of wealth distribution in the United States. It’s not a judgement on people, or their abilities or any justification of such a distribution. It’s just a straight forward, well visualized look at the statistics as they stand.
Now, I’ve talked about some of the problems of income disparity before. In particular, looking at the top to bottom distribution of wages within companies. This was mostly in reference to our political situation in this country. And we’ve seen recently that there is even more influence than we thought about how far some of our congressional members will go in order to guard the top wealth horders of this country.
It’s an acknowledged fact that Ted Cruz has come forward and said that his major gain out of the government shutdown is in terms of financial backing. Now, if you don’t believe that the fundraising was most likely in very large part from the wealth horders in this country, I’ve got something else to think about: who has been the loudest in complaining about the Affordable Care Act? The “business owners” who are supposedly being hit the most by this because they have to provide better coverage to their employees.
So, lets look at this: the highest wage earners, the people who want us to feel they are “job creators” wield the most influence over our government. They are upset that enacting the ACA will affect their horded stockpiles of money, so they complain. And a bunch of elected representatives bow and scrape to these people in order to get more money from them. And they are willing to go so far as to shut down our whole government, hurt the income of the lower 80 percent of the country, and put the financial credibility of our country at risk, and possibly impact the global economy.
So, what does that say for our country, our government?
