Sunday Re-spin #1

01.10.2010, Bio, Creative Commons, Weekly Summary, by .

So, this post is a summary of a few things that I’ve done over the last week that you might have missed on the site for various reasons (like I don’t send out notices for every page I create, only the new articles).

Last weekend I really got the site rock-n-rolling with several additions and clean-ups.  Here’s a summary:

I revised the Reuse Permissions to reflect my decision to changing the sites CreativeCommons deed to BY-SA.  I wanted to make it clear that while I was dropping the NC and ND portions of the deed, I was still asking that anyone that wanted to use my articles send me a note via the Contact Me form.

I started a new Links & Locations section of the site. This section serves two purposes: (1) it documents all the social networks I am on, including IRC channels, microblogs, etc. and (2) it will take the place of a “blog roll” for me, it will serve to track the sites that I read and use for sources of things that I write about on here.

A new Bio page tells you all you could want to know about me, while being about as cryptic as I can be.  Sorry for being cryptic, I don’t want to publish too many details of my “meat space” life here, but I wanted readers of the blog to have some kind of idea about who I am.  Eventually I will probably revise this article as I could probably have written it better.

And finally, I wrote what I kind of consider to be an “open-letter” to the CreativeCommons community.  As I was writing a review last week, I ran into an issue with the way the release was licensed.  This was the impetus for me to finally write down some of my thoughts regarding the NC and ND clauses.  A Word About CreativeCommons Licenses kind of takes things full-circle back to where I started this week with revising my Reuse Permissions article.

So, that’s all from the last week.  Next week promises to bring new items, including the following:

  • Two reviews of releases on Jamendo.  In fact, you may have seen one of them already by the time you read this.
  • The continuation of my “Shoestring Classical Collection” series.
  • At least one new essay not written as a blog post.

Just a quick word about why I am publishing some items as blog posts, and some as seperate “pages” or essays.  The items that I don’t publish in the blog I expect to have a longer “shelf life”.  They are things that won’t grow old just because they have been available for a month already.  Eventually, I hope that I will have enough essays and / or other writing posted on the site to start considering doing something else with them…  But, that’s all still up in the air.
